CELINA, Tenn. (AP) - The city hall in Celina has been heavily damaged by fire.
Video shown on WTVF-TV in Nashville showed the roof of the building in the Clay County seat had collapsed.
The fire was brought under control Friday morning, but not until it had destroyed city records and damaged a rescue squad building next door to the city hall.
Celina Mayor Buddy Thompson told the station records that date back to 70 years were stored in the building's attic.
City offices, including a courtroom and the water utility offices, were destroyed.
The outside walls were still standing.
The blaze was discovered by a city police officer shortly after 2 a.m.
