INVERNESS, Miss. (AP) - A Mississippi prison inmate who escaped from a work center has been captured in a cornfield at Inverness.
The Mississippi Department of Corrections says guards discovered 27-year-old Shannon Norwood missing early Thursday following a head count at the Washington County Community Work Center. Sunflower County sheriff's deputies captured Norwood on Friday evening.
Norwood is serving a 4-year term for grand larceny. He now faces fugitive charges that could bring another five years in prison.
