MEMPHIS, TN (WMC-TV) - You've stopped dining out and planned your vacation closer to home.
Now it's time to save money on your pets by taking care of some pet needs yourself. Here are some tips:
- Brush your pet's teeth regularly. Brush their coats, trim their nails and bathe them at home.
- Shop around for cheaper medications. Call your local pharmacy or search online for lower prices. Walgreens fills prescriptions for millions of animals each year.
- Shop around for pet supplies. Don't assume the pet superstore has the cheapest prices. Check mom and pop stores and search online for savings on supplies.
- Forgo the fashion. Pet clothing and fancy bags are a completely unnecessary expense.
- Don't buy the cheapest food. Higher-quality food helps keep your pet healthier. It might also help you save on training costs because cheap food containing fillers can lead to hyperactivity.
- Spay or neuter your pet. Animals that are spayed or neutered generally suffer fewer health problems down the road.
