MONROE, Okla. (AP) - A motorcyclist from Arkansas has died after he swerved to avoid a deer crossing a state highway in LeFlore County.
The Oklahoma Highway Patrol identified the victim of Saturday's crash as Anthony Collier, 55, of Hackett, Ark., located just east of the Oklahoma border.
The crash occurred at 9:53 a.m. on Oklahoma Highway 83 three miles east of Monroe in far eastern LeFlore County near the Arkansas border.
Troopers say Collier's 2005 Honda motorcycle was westbound on the highway when a deer ran in front of the vehicle, causing Collier to loose control and overturn. He was thrown about 98 feet from the crash site.
The patrol says he was wearing a helmet.
