CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (AP) - Police in Chattanooga say they've solved a fatal drive-by shooting but they can't arrest the suspect. He's dead, too.
The Chattanooga Times Free Press reported 20-year-old Roy Sturdivant was killed on Dec. 11, 2008, in the driveway outside his home.
By the time police matched a bullet and checked witnesses' statements, the man the evidence led to was also dead.
Homicide Investigator Justin Kilgore said one bullet taken from Sturdivant's body matched a gun later used by Cornelius Williams in another incident.
By that time, however, Williams had also become a homicide victim, mortally wounded by gunshots on Jan. 2 and dying on Feb. 6.
The newspaper reported Sturdivant's grandmother declined comment and his mother couldn't be reached.
