Tigers sign power forward Tarik Black

MEMPHIS, TN (WMC-TV) - The Memphis Tiger basketball team received their seventh commitment of the early signing period Monday, and it's a big one.

Team officials confirm Tarik Black of Ridgeway High School has signed with the team University of Memphis. Black, a 6'8", 230 pounder, is rated as the 18th best power forward in the nation by Scout.com.

A four-star recruit, Black's commitment gives the Tigers a much needed big man in a class rated among the nation's best in the last 25 years.

Black's signing gives Memphis three local players. They all played on the same A.A.U. team that won the National Championship in Las Vegas this past summer.
