Bounce Memphis airs 24/7, featuring a programming mix of movies, TV series, live sporting events, documentaries, specials, inspirational faith-based programs, and original programming.
The new Bounce network is tailor-made for the Memphis television market, according to WMC-TV 5 General Manager Lee Meredith.
"Memphis is the 13th largest market in the nation in terms of African-American television viewers," Meredith said. "We're happy to be able to provide high quality programming that will be entertaining for them and for other people as well. "
Bounce Memphis will feature hundreds of movies including: Jamie Foxx's 2004 Academy Award-winning performance as Ray Charles in Ray; Denzel Washington's Academy Award-nominated role in The Hurricane; The Bone Collector, which pairs Washington with Angelina Jolie; Spike Lee's Do The Right Thing, Jungle Fever, Mo' Better Blues; The Nutty Professor I and II, starring Eddie Murphy; Bowfinger starring Murphy and Steve Martin; Michael Jackson and Diana Ross headlining The Wiz; the 1995 comedy Major Payne with Damon Wayans; Dave Chappelle's Block Party (2005), the 1976 classic Car Wash and more.
Live sports and events will be part of the Bounce Memphis schedule and the network also has a multi-year rights agreement with Urban Sports Entertainment Group (USEG) to televise both football and basketball games from the nation's largest African American athletic conference, the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA.)
Martin Luther King III and Ambassador Young are part of Bounce TV's founding group and Board of Directors.
Bounce Memphis replaced "Weather Plus" on WMC-TV 5's digital channel 5-2. The Action News 5 Storm Tracking Team will continue to provide hourly weather updates on Bounce TV to keep viewers informed of Mid-South weather.
