An award-winning journalist, Nick Kenney joined the Action News 5 staff in July 2007. Since then, he's been reporting from the front lines of every major Mid-South news event, from the chilling Lester Street Murders, to the deadly tornado outbreak of May 2008, to the dangerous chase and capture of two escaped, murderous Louisiana prisoners, and everything in between.

Nick's job is fast-paced and never dull. Daily, he gets to meet new people and tell their stories, a grave responsibility to which he is seriously dedicated. Reporting the news has taken root in his core.

Born and raised in New Orleans, Louisiana, Nick is a 1999 graduate of Brother Martin High School. In December 2002, he graduated Summa Cum Laude from The University of Alabama with a Bachelor of Arts in Communication and Information Science.

While still in college, Nick began his broadcasting career as a reporter/producer/anchor at Tuscaloosa's WVUA-TV. After graduation, he spent 4-1/2 years at WAFF-TV in Huntsville, Alabama, followed by his current status as a general assignment reporter at WMC-TV.

Over the course of his career, Nick has been awarded a long list of professional honors, including an Emmy for his specialty assignment report on Textecution, an Emmy nomination for Writing, an Edward R. Murrow Award for Writing, and multiple Alabama Associated Press Awards.

Above all else, Nick considers himself a devoted husband to his intelligent and gorgeous wife, Holli, a deliriously proud father to their charming and effervescent son, Griffin, and a hopeless pushover to their energetic and engaging miniature schnauzer, Captain Jack Sparrow.

In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his family, traveling, writing, photography, cheering on the Alabama Crimson Tide, and obsessing over his hometown team, the New Orleans Saints.
