Arkansas condemned child killer Damien Echols has lost another appeal in his bid to avoid execution.
Echols and two other teens were convicted in the killings of three eight-year-old boys in West Memphis. The others received prison terms.
Steven Branch, Michael Moore and Christopher Byers disappeared May fifth, 1993, while riding bicycles in their neighborhood. Their bodies were found the next day in a watery ditch near their homes.
The Arkansas Supreme Court ruled unanimously today that Echols' former lawyer didn't have a conflict of interest in the case. Attorney Val Price had allowed a film crew from H-B-O to record a documentary that featured interviews with Echols, who was then 18.
The justices said Echols' lawyers acted in their client's interests and that his defense was aided, not impeded, by the film contract.
