SOUTHAVEN, MS (WMC-TV) - The city of Southaven received good news this week in the form of a major retailer coming to town.
Indianapolis based hhgregg will move into the building vacated by the former Circuit City store, which closed earlier this year.
Southaven Planning Director Whitney Choat said the retailer's impending arrival is welcome news to the city after several stores in the center have closed their doors.
"We feel great about it," Choat said. "One of the main things everybody's been worried about is businesses going out and vacancies. That's our lifestyle, and that's our new mall, and we don't want to see vacancies there."
Choat said hhgregg hopes to be open by late fall, in time for the holiday shopping season. As for other vacancies at the center, Choat said the former Linens 'n Things and World Market stores will soon be occupied as well, but she would not say who would be moving in.
