MEMPHIS, TN (WMC-TV) - A group of teenage boys calling themselves the "Goon Squad" robbed another teen after a Whitehaven High School football game.
Now, the alleged leader of the group, 18-year-old Ricky Huntley, faces criminal charges.
Police say the group threw the boy on the ground, then took his cash, watch and a gold chain.
18 days later, detectives found Huntley outside Sears at Southland Mall. The arrest warrant says he admitted to being the head of the Goon Squad.
Huntley is being held on $50,000 bond.
The teen was arrested two other times this year, but both of those cases were dismissed.
Dr. Lester Basken, pastor of Middle Baptist Church, says he intends to reach out to Huntley.
"I'm going to get to know him. I'm going to make it my business to know something about this fella," he said.
Basken hopes he can show Huntely a better path.
"I've never known a criminal to be successful - never," he said. "Success is not found in that particular field. You cannot do well in life until you have something in your head."
