MEMPHIS, TN (WMC-TV) - Memphis police released new pictures Wednesday of a Mid-South bar owner as he robbed local bank.
Investigators say Gregg Drew held up the Trust One Bank last Friday wearing a khaki suit, a yellow tie, a black wig, a fake mustache, and a white mask as a disguise.
In a federal affidavit of complaint, FBI agents say Drew walked into the bank Friday afternoon and waved a silver revolver, instructing tellers to "open all the drawers" and "step back."
Then, the affidavit says, Drew removed money from cash drawers and put it in a black garbage bag. He took a total of $6,926, plus a GPS tracking device encased in the money.
Police followed the GPS signal to 5916 Lynnbrier, where officers noticed a black Lexus parked in the garage. The car's hood was still warm.
By phone, Drew told police his "business was in the tubes," that he was "going to kill himself," and that he, "had taken three grams of cocaine to prevent law enforcement from taking it."
After a 5-hour stand-off, Drew surrendered.
Later, FBI agents found a white mask and the GPS tracker in Drew's attic, along with $6,903. The amount was $23 shorts of what was stolen at the bank by a man wearing a khaki suit, a yellow tie, a black wig, a fake mustache, and a white mask as a disguise.
