NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - The Bridgestone tire plant in Warren County, Tenn., has been honored by the Wildlife Habitat Council.
It was recognized as Corporate Habitat of the Year at the council's annual national symposium recently in Baltimore.
The award cites the plant's wildlife habitat and a program providing young people with hands-on environmental education.
Students study local wildlife, habitats, pollinators, forests, soils, water and the air, and learn about recycling, conservation and the need to protect the environment. An estimated 5,000 students have already participated in the program.
Bridgestone is based in Nashville.
