NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - The Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development says the state's unemployment rate remained at 10.5 percent for the second straight month in October.
The seasonally adjusted rate compares with 6.9 percent unemployment in October of last year. The strongest jobs gains compared to last year were in health care and government sectors. Job losses were concentrated in the manufacturing, mining, construction and in the trade, transportation and utilities fields.
The national unemployment rate rose to from 9.8 percent to 10.2 percent in October.
