OLIVE BRANCH, MS (WMC-TV) - It may not a be a typical wish for a 14-year-old girl, but Thursday, a Mid-South girl suffering from terminal brain tumors had her dreams come true.
For 14-year-old Mary Jo Dietsch, life has been full of difficult health challenges. Thursday, surrounded by family and friends, a surprise presentation was held at DeSoto Honda in Olive Branch for Mary Jo and her family by the Make-A-Wish foundation.
It has always been her dream to attend the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York, and she will do so next week.
"I think it's going to be so much fun," said Mary Jo, who will also visit New York's American Girl store.
Mary Jo has suffered from three re-occurent brain tumors during her lifetime, and most recently suffered a stroke. But her father says she is a survivor and deserves to enjoy something she has always wanted to do.
The family will fly to New York next Tuesday, where she will also visit FAO Swartz and take in The Lion King on Broadway before returning home on Sunday.
