LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) - A veteran from Tennessee who admitted sending child pornography on the Internet and asking two Kentucky women to help set up sexual encounters with children has been sentenced to 12 1/2 years in prison.
The Lexington Herald-Leader reports 31-year-old Patrick Michael Reilly of Clarksville, Tenn., was sentenced Friday in federal court in Lexington. Reilly had pleaded guilty to distributing child pornography.
A plea agreement says Reilly sent pornographic videos to a woman in Mercer County during online chats in early 2008, and while stationed in Iraq in 2006, he asked a Hardin County woman to send him a disc of child pornography. Reilly then asked the women to set up sexual encounters.
Reilly said in court he didn't know how he had strayed so far.
His lawyer, Andrew M. Stephens, said the former Army staff sergeant began to look at and send child porn after suffering head trauma and other injuries during his last tour of Iraq.
