Arkansas St. looks for win with backup QB

Associated Press - November 25, 2009 12:04 PM ET

JONESBORO, Ark. (AP) - Arkansas State backup quarterback Ryan Alpin will be under center Saturday when the Red Wolves host North Texas in Jonesboro.

Alpin is filling in for starting quarterback Corey Leonard, who will miss the final two games as a result of knee surgery.

Both North Texas (2-9, 1-6) and Arkansas State (2-8, 1-5) have endured their share of disappointing losses this season. North Texas lost its fifth game by a touchdown or less last weekend when it fell to Army 17-13. The Red Wolves have four losses by six points or less.

Arkansas State won the teams' last meeting, 33-28.

Kickoff is set for 2 p.m.
