OXFORD, MS (WMC-TV) - Three men and a woman have been charged in the death of a Lafayette County man.

According to Lafayette County Sheriff's Department investigator Scott Mills, Willie Anthony Canon, Justin Eugene Montez and Adam Corey Ferguson are charged with murder in the death of Pete Connell, 69.  Additionally, Kasie Lynn Jones is charged with accessory after the fact of capital murder.

Deputies discovered Connell last Thursday while responding to a disturbance call at his home. Mills said Connell later died at an Oxford hospital.  An autopsy showed he died from multiple blunt force trauma.

"We're not sure if an instrument was used or not," Mills said. "Just not sure."

Investigators are still trying to determine a motive for the brutal crime.

"It appears right now in the early stages robbery may have played into it at some point," Mills said.

Wednesday, Connell's wife spoke out about her husband's death.

"God help me for the hatred that I have in my heart," she said. "God help me for the thoughts I have for these people."

The tragedy has left Connell's family with a lot of unanswered questions.

"I want to know why somebody would do something like that," said his daughter, Charity Wright.
