DeAngelo Williams Returns with Free Football Camp at University of Memphis

Former University of Memphis Football star DeAngelo Williams continues to be a Big Star to area youth now that he's in the NFL...

Williams puts his star power to work giving some Summer Fun..

Williams and several other Tigers and NFL stars are hosting a Freedom From Unnecessary Negatives Football camp at the U of M..

Friday, more than 600 kids showed up for the Free Camp...a number exceeding expectations by about a hundred.

Williams followed up a stellar prep career at Wynne, Arkansas, with a Collegiate All-American Career as the Tigers All-Time Leading Rusher..and the NCAA's career leader in All-Purpose yardage..

As a First Round Draft Pick of the Carolina Panthers, Williams totalled more than 800 yards and 2-touchdowns in his rookie season.

DeAngelo says:

"Football can teach you a lot about life. All the discipline and in the real world if you can listen to a coach tell you what to do you can listen to your mom and dad."

  Adds former Tiger Mike McKenzie, who's now a Defensive Back for the New Orleans Saints..

"We're really just stressing the importance of teamwork and getting an education because without school you're not gonna go too far."

The F.U.N. Football camp runs through Saturday at the U of M South Campus.
