This week's "Your Turn" letter comes from Kathy Caldwell. Caldwell takes Action News 5 to task for our coverage of the recent story involving the Memphis Animal Shelter.
In her words:
I am appalled and sickened when you continue to show abused animals on the news broadcast. It serves no purpose but to sensationalize news like the National Enquirer does. No one needs or wants to see those poor animals in the condition you are describing in the story. It is unsettling and hurtful. The story speaks for itself. The warning is not enough. When I see stories like this, I change the channel. I watch WMC every day and think you could handle this issue in a more tasteful manner. My husband and I just recently adopted a dog from a shelter and we are very attuned to these grave situations. In the future, please refrain from showing abused animals of any kind.
