It's unfortunate that we usually only stop to acknowledge the debt that we owe to the people who work in law enforcement after a tragedy like the one last week in West Memphis. I suppose that's human nature, but we do owe a huge amount of gratitude to our neighbors who are willing to take on these dangerous jobs.

How many of the rest of us would be comfortable putting ourselves into the hazardous situations that police have to deal with every day? West Memphis police officers Brandon Paudert and Bill Evans are today's heroes, and so are all of the officers who face these same risks every day.

Our hearts go out to the families of Officer Paudert and Officer Evans. As we have done in the past, the people here at WMC were proud to host a donation drive to benefit these families. We thank all of our partners who worked with us on this project and all of you reached into your wallets to make a donation. Mostly though, we thank the two men are no longer with us.

That's my turn. Now it's your turn. To comment on this segment or anything else, email yourturn@wmctv.com or call 800-465-1210.
