Lorenzen Wright was Memphis.
Starting his playing career at Booker T. Washington High School and going on to the University of Memphis and the Grizzlies, Wright was a hometown favorite. And he loved this city as much as it loved him, grinning from ear to ear the day he first put on a Grizzlies uniform.
So now, we're left to share stories of Wright's generosity to family, friends and others. We're recalling his love for his children, his unique bond with his father who himself was the victim of a paralyzing gunshot wound.
We're also talking about his ability as a basketball team member - both on the court and in the locker room. Mostly though, we're just left with a feeling of sadness.Our thoughts and prayers are with Lorenzen Wright's family and friends.
