A Memphis City Council member wants to add an ordinance to the city charter that would ban discrimination based on sexual orientation.More >>
This week people are hot about the proposed Memphis city ordinance that would ban discrimination based sexual orientation. This week's "Your Turn" goes to Dawn Stiles. She's opposed to discrimination, but she's also unhappy with the idea of the ordinance proposed by Councilwoman Janis Fullilove.
In Stiles' words:
We do not need a rule that says people should be hired or promoted based upon their sexual orientation. This will make matters worse. C'mon people, just hire and promote based upon qualifications and that's it. The color of skin or the gender of the person they choose to share their life with has nothing to do with their abilities to perform their job. Period.
That's Dawn Stiles' turn. Now it's your turn. To comment on this segment or anything else, email yourturn@wmctv.com or call 800-465-1210.
