Many crime victims become frustrated when the justice system doesn't move quickly enough. That was certainly the case for Memphian Kim Carter and her four-year-old granddaughter, Asia.

Carter and Asia were recently attacked by two men who invaded their home and put a gun to the head of the young child. When police were not able to solve the case quickly, Carter began buying copies of this local newspaper called "Just Busted," which publishes mug shots of people who have been arrested recently in Shelby, DeSoto and Crittenden Counties. Her theory was that the men who invaded their home were criminals and sooner or later they would be arrested for something else.

Sure enough, this week, Asia spotted both men in the publication and now police are in the process of arresting them -- again.

It's a sad reflection of our community that Carter and her granddaughter were able to solve their case this way, but good for them. The tougher problem to solve is the epidemic of recidivism that put the men who hurt them back on the streets so quickly.

That's my turn. Now it's your turn. To comment on this segment or anything else, email yourturn@wmctv.com or call 800-465-1210.
