WEST MEMPHIS, AR (WMC-TV) - Police have identified a body found in West Memphis early Sunday morning as that of a missing Horn Lake woman.

According to Donald Oakes, Assistant Chief of Police in West Memphis, Maggie Wright, 58, was last seen Saturday night at Harrah's Casino in Tunica.

"She had just gone for a night at the casino and something happened," Oakes said.

Hours later, on Sunday morning, West Memphis police responded to a caller who had made a shocking discovery - a body on the side of the road.

"They found her on a dirt road just north of Rainer Road here in the city," Oakes said.

According to Oakes, Wright was identified Wednesday morning by her fingerprints.

"We had to make an actual physical comparison with ink prints to verify who she was," he said.

Police originally thought the victim was 25 to 30 years old, and released information hoping to solicit a public response.

"Because of the conditions of that scene and because of what had taken place, it was very difficult to tell," Oakes said.

Wright suffered blunt force trauma, as well as trauma from being hit by a car.

"She had suffered some significant damage from the impact of the car," Oakes said.

Police said Wright was from Horn Lake, and worked as a teacher for Memphis City Schools. Detectives are now following all leads in hopes of finding Smith's killer.

"We'll get to the bottom of it," Oakes said.

Tunica County investigators said video surveillance at Harrah's showed Wright walking around inside the casino with two men.  It also showed her walking out of the casino with the two men and getting into her car.

Investigators said they do not know if Wright knew the men.

Wright's daughter said she was supposed to meet a female friend at the casino.  Wright told the friend she would be leaving the casino later Sunday morning.

Police are searching for a 2000 model white Lincoln LS in relation to the case, with Mississippi tags DFN-374.
