MEMPHIS (WMC TV) - A sub-sandwich chain sets a Scorecard record with the first sweep of the best health inspection scores.

Three Subway stores swept the top three high scores of the Jan. 31-Feb. 5 inspection week, including one that earned a perfect 100.

The Bethel Grove Subway, 2669 Lamar Ave., scored the 100 on Feb. 4. It's the second time in seven months the Bethel Grove store rated the high score of the week among Memphis-Shelby County restaurants.

"We have to be perfect because Subway's own inspectors surprise us once a month," said Raymond King, the Bethel Grove store's manager. "They're in here every month, going over everything, and it's got to be right."

The officers of the Memphis Police Airways Station prefer the Bethel Grove Subway because of its fresh food and cleanliness. Its loyal customers don't hesitate to cross state lines to pig out among perfection.

"I watch those restaurant scores all the time, and I'm glad this one scored that high," said customer James Dennis. He skips the Subways near his Olive Branch, MS, home to eat at the one in Bethel Grove.

The other Subway stores that round out the top 3 this week are the Subway in Millington, TN, at 8021 Hwy. 51 (a 98 on Feb. 3), and the Subway near Chickasaw Gardens at 199 S. Highland St. in East Memphis (a 98 on Feb. 3).
