I'm very happy to have the opportunity to talk about Susan Guy. Guy is the Memphis pizza delivery driver who received national attention this week because she cared a lot about an elderly woman who was a regular customer of hers.
As it turns out, the woman had fallen in her home three days earlier and could not reach a phone to call for help. Guy's call to 911 may have saved the woman's life.
How many times are each of us presented with an opportunity to make a difference in someone's life? Too often, we don't recognize these opportunities when they're presented. We're too busy or too insensitive to what's going on around us.
Then, they're the other times when we do recognize an opportunity to make a difference, but we don't act. We don't want to get involved, or we just want to put it off doing the right thing until it's more convenient for us.
Thank goodness Susan Guy did not fall victim to either of these traps. She deserves every accolade that's been given to her this week. Wouldn't all of us love to have a Susan Guy in our lives when we have a moment of need?
That's my turn. Now it's your turn. To comment on this segment or anything else, email firstname.lastname@example.org or call 800-465-1210.
