MEMPHIS, TN -
This week's "Your Turn" segment goes to Janice Bell. Bell is upset about the government incentives provided to Electrolux to help the company build a factory that will create jobs here. She thinks we did not get enough in return.
In her words:
What is Memphis getting out of the deal by giving Electrolux $120 million? Since all the money is coming from Memphis, Shelby County and the State, did the deal makers ask that Memphians make up 75 or 80 percent of the work force for Electrolux? I am just frustrated that Tennesseans are being duped including the folks who agreed to give that much money and we get nothing in return. Since the money is coming from Tennessee taxpayers, Tennessee should be given first priority on jobs and not surrounding areas. Tennessee needs to take care of home first.
That's Janice Bell's turn. Now it's your turn. To comment on this segment or anything else, email yourturn@wmctv.com or call 800-465-1210.
