MEMPHIS, TN -
(WMC-TV) - It's been a heartbreaking couple of weeks for many people in the South as severe weather conditions have wiped out entire families and made living conditions miserable for many others.
For all of us who have been spared in this round of storms, now is the time for us to come to the aid of our neighbors. Current estimates are that 2,800 families in Shelby County alone will be affected by the current flooding.
One excellent way to help them and others who've been hurt by these weather disasters is to make a donation to the Mid-South Chapter of the American Red Cross.
Click here to make a donation to the local Red Cross. Your donations will stay in our community to help people as the Red Cross provides support shelters, food and other resources to assist in the recovery process.
Tuesday, May 10, Action News 5 will take the day to stage a televised relief effort. We hope you'll join us then to help those who need a hand right now.
That's my turn. Now it's your turn. To comment on this segment or anything else, email yourturn@wmctv.com or call 800-465-1210.
