(WMC-TV) - This week's "Your Turn" segment comes from the Action News 5 Facebook page. More than 375 comments logged were logged there about the so-called "Don't Say Gay" bill proposed in the Tennessee State Senate.
The proposed law would forbid any discussion of homosexuality in public schools before the ninth grade. This led to a vigorous debate on our Facebook page. We chose a letter from Lisa Trussell Walker.
In her words:
First of all, homosexuality should not be mentioned in school period. If it comes up then the teacher should instruct the child to go home and ask their parent about it. It is not their place to be discussing sexual preferences with our children. They are there to learn the three R's -- reading, writing and arithmetic. Not sex education.
That's Lisa Trussell Walker's turn. Now it's your turn. To comment on this segment or anything else, email yourturn@wmctv.com or call 800-465-1210.
