MEMPHIS, TN -

(WMC-TV) - Two Memphis Police officers were rushed to the MED Friday after they were involved in a fiery car crash.

Witness Daniel Luster described the chaotic chain of events after the two officers were involved in the crash.

"We heard a little siren, a beep. We heard a bang, a really loud bang," said Luster. "Two police officers in the car. The car was burning. They had hit the side of the truck. The truck was turning up in the driveway."

The front end of the police cruiser was smashed to pieces. The accident happened around 5:30 p.m. near Millbranch and Winchester. Both officers were reportedly injured and had to be transported to the MED.

"The police officer's leg, one of them was turned all the way around," said Luster. "I know it was hurting him. The other officer, they took him across the street. We really didn't get a chance to see him."

Joshua Merrell was sitting outside the emergency room entrance when he said he saw two ambulance arrive.

"I just saw the two as they pulled in," he said. "They blocked off the street and let one in. A few minutes later, they blocked off the street and let another one in."

Several MPD officers quickly rushed to the hospital and could be seen outside the MED directing traffic while trying to maintain order.

Both officers are reportedly in non-critical condition. There was no word Friday if any charges have been filed.
