YOUR TURN: Many unhappy city workers - Action News 5 - Memphis, Tennessee

(WMC-TV) - This week's "Your Turn" segment comes from the Action News 5 Facebook page. Many City of Memphis workers, their families and friends are writing to say how unhappy they are about the paycuts and layoffs that were mandated by the city council this week. We chose a letter from Debra Howard.

In her words:

My fiancé is a Memphis police officer and I just found out that effective today he is getting a 4 1/2% decrease in his pay. How can the city of Memphis do this? These are the people who protect us and get the "bad guys" off the streets. I'm thinking now that the "bad guys" are the politicians. Are they also receiving a 4 1/2% decrease in their pay? Are they still getting their bonuses? Please tell me that I am ill-informed because this is really unbelievable.
