Memphis Grizzlies coach helps plant community garden

MEMPHIS, TN -

(WMC-TV) - He may be the winningest coach in the history of the Memphis Grizzlies, but Saturday, Coach Lionel Hollins really got down and dirty.

Hollins Charitable foundation partnered with United Healthcare to plant a community garden at Youth Visions on Overton Square.

Young volunteers spent Saturday with Hollins learning the important lesson of eating healthy and growing your own food.

"This is the first time I've done any dirty work like this since I was a kid, but it's been a lot of fun," said Hollins.  "A great learning experience not just for the kids, but for myself, to learn how to plant the garden, put it together."

Organizers said they hope the garden will teach the benefits of healthy eating to the children of Youth Visions, most of whom are from single-parent households.
