Rapper Rick Ross to open Wingstop location in Memphis

MEMPHIS, TN -

(WMC-TV) - Rapper and Mid-South native Rick Ross is adding restaurant owner to his business resume.

Born in Coahoma County, Mississippi, the Maybach Music CEO is investing in a franchise called Wingstop.  Ross plans to open his first location in Memphis in a strip mall on Winchester.

There is already a Wingstop on Germantown Parkway, along with 479 locations nationwide.  Celebrity franchise owners include former Dallas Cowboys quarterback Troy Aikman.

Ross has paid homage to the restaurant in his music.

In a news release, Wingstop corporate said Ross brings a huge fan base to a concept and brand they hope to grow in Memphis.  Ross was quoted as saying, "after tasting Wingstop's signature lemon pepper-flavored wings in Miami, I knew this was a franchise I wanted to add to my investments."

There is no opening date set other than sometime in the fall.  Ross will open several other Wingstop locations at some point in the future.
