MEMPHIS, TN -

(WMC-TV) – Memphis police arrested a woman accused of shooting a repo man Thursday.

The shooting happened early Thursday afternoon in the 4200 block of Navaho. Witnesses said the victim, 37-year-old Marcus Evers, was shot by a woman while trying to repossess an SUV at that location.

Evers' sister, Wendy Tennie, called the shooting senseless.

"To shoot a man for doing his job? That's unheard of. That's crazy," she said.

After the shooting, the suspect left the scene in the vehicle, possibly with children inside.

"If she wanted the truck that bad, then she should have paid her bill, and we wouldn't be going through this right now," Tennie said.

Police pursued the suspect for short time. Officers later recovered the vehicle in the 1300 block of Ridgeway Park, but the suspect was no where to be found.

Neighbors who live along Navaho say things got so chaotic an altercation broke out between police officers and two other repo employees who showed up at the scene.

"I saw a lady, when she ran up and hit the officer, he throwed her down," one neighbor said.

Evers was taken the The MED and was listed in good condition late Thursday.  Charges have not been filed against the suspect.
