NASHVILLE, TN -

(WMC-TV) - Representative Curry Todd of Collierville is stepping aside as Chairman of the House State and Local Government committee.

This comes just days after he resigned as chairman of a Republican firearms task force in the state House.

Todd, a retired Memphis police officer, was arrested in Nashville last Tuesday night after failing a roadside sobriety test and refusing to take a breathalyzer test.

A loaded gun was also found in his car.

In a statement just released, Todd says he will step aside until the matter is resolved.
