MEMPHIS, TN -

(WMC-TV) - Shelby County deputies and MPD were on the scene of an accident at Fite Road and Raleigh-Millington Road Saturday night where four people were killed.

Investigators confirmed that four women lost their lives on the bridge over the Loosahatchie River.

"We do know that two pick up trucks were involved and a Chevy Impala was involved which contained four females, and those four females are dead at the scene," said Shelby County Sheriff's Office spokesperson Chip Washington.

Jimmy Moore was traveling on the road to see his daughter in the Waverly Plantations subdivision.  He said the accident made his heart drop.

"I don't know what I'd do with four lives lost at a time when families are gathering for the holidays," said Moore.

At least two other victims were transported to the MED by ambulance.

At one point, Shelby County Mayor Mark Luttrell was on the scene being briefed.

The victims have not been identified at this time.  Investigators are working to piece together how this accident happened.
