(WMC-TV) - How can you lose 79,000 police reports?

That's basically what Memphis Police Director Toney Armstrong said his department has done over the past six years.

Armstrong referred to the reports as "memos," making the distinction that not all of them would have become official police reports.

That distinction might seem fairly insignificant to you if you were one of the thousands of Memphians who called the police for help during that period. Now, you're finding out the officers may have put your information in a virtual round file.

I'm sure that's not exactly the level of service you were expecting.

We've heard a lot in the past few years about all the fancy new technology that the Memphis Police Department has added to its operation. It looks to me like they might want to go back to using some older technology, something like good old fashioned inboxes.

If your inbox has 79,000 memos in it that's a little hard to overlook.

That's my turn. Now it's your turn. To comment on this segment or anything else, email yourturn@wmctv.com or call 800-465-1210.
