MEMPHIS, TN -

(WMC-TV) – Many in Memphis have been celebrating the Tigers' move out of Conference USA and hope it means Big East fans will be packing Tiger Lane come 2013.

Mayor A C Wharton expressed his excitement on twitter, "Big East brace yourself, here we come."

By midday Big East was trending in Memphis as fans like Rod Tigrett heard the news - he said hearing the announcement this afternoon was like a dream come true.

Tigrett is with Support Memphis Tigers football, a group that works to encourage the growth of U of M's football program.

Along with helping with recruitment, being a part of the Big East will bring more people to the city and put Memphis on the map in major league sports - also additional funds should become available to The University.

Many students on campus have been hoping this would happen for a while, Josh Barwick is one of them.

"I think it's going to be great, great for the school, great for athletics. I'm excited to see them play all these new teams."
