NEW ALBANY, MS -
(WMC-TV) - Just two months after the murder of his wife, North Mississippi football coach Ron Price is doing the best he can as a single dad to his three-year-old daughter Molly Addison, but he remembers his wife, Amanda, through all of it.
"I'm supposed to be encouraging her through this and she's encouraged me more than I've encouraged her," he said. "She's Amanda made-over. I'm so thankful. She reminds me of her momma every single day in the things that she says."
Ron and Amanda met in high school in Corinth and Amanda followed Ron to Delta State.
"Soon as I finished school, I knew," he said. "I knew early on that I wanted her to be my wife. Took a little more convincing on her part."
They married in 2002 and were married for nine years.
"It was nine wonderful years," Price said.
After earning her Masters at Ole Miss, Amanda became the speech pathologist for all the New Albany schools while Ron took up residency on the football field.
He lit a fire in the Bulldogs and Amanda was the team's number one fan. She not only cheered for the players, but also prayed for them.
"She would remind me: God is allowing this to happen," Price said. "We're having success because of the Lord. Don't get all wrapped up in winning. Keep Him at the top and thank Him and give Him honor and glory."
The athletes, students and faculty at New Albany High School have been a source of strength for Coach Price in the aftermath of Amanda's death. Five of the coach's key players have applied Amanda's Christian testimony to their own lives.
"You know, Amanda, if she had known one person would have gotten saved through her death, she would have done it," price said. "But to know of more than one and there's going to be more to come.
"I'm just telling how special Amanda was. Like I said earlier, to love your Lord with all your heart, all your mind and all your soul and Amanda did that in everything that she did."
Now as life moves on for the single dad and his daughter, it's that message of love he champions in his wife's honor.
"How many days in our crazy world do we just leave for work and we would tell each other every morning goodbye but we didn't stop everyday," he said.
"We didn't stop and hug and kiss and love and we got to do that. Don't take them for granted and don't let them go without telling them that you love them."
