MEMPHIS, TN -
(WMC-TV) - Memphis Tigers fans said Saturday they are still soaking in the news that the University of Memphis is headed to the Big East Conference.
Since the Big East announcement Wednesday, Tigers fans across the Mid-South have anticipated Saturday night's home game against the University of Alabama-Birmingham Blazers.
Many fans said the move to the Big East was long overdue.
"We'll have better teams to play," said Tigers fan Jerry Quarles. "I'm not trying to take anything from UAB, Tulane, or Conference USA, but we've kind of outgrown Conference USA and it's time for us to step up and be the team we know we can be."
