MEMPHIS, TN -

(WMC-TV) – Investigators across West Tennessee are searching for an elusive member of an alleged killing crew.

Demetreous Santiago is on the run. He's wanted for killing at least four people, including a former Memphis police officer.

Three other suspects are in jail.

Police got a break in this case when 24-year-old Michael Dean walked into 201 Poplar Friday to provide a urine specimen because of an earlier drug arrest. Investigators took him in for questioning and police say he admitted that he and his girlfriend were involved in the murder of a former Memphis police officer.

But that was just one of four murders they and others are suspected of.

"That's something you might hear from Memphis and might believe it, but here in Hernando… It's shocking," said Scott Pala.

Pala is talking about a two month killing spree a former Hernando student and three other people are allegedly behind. Four people in all were murdered, including a former Memphis police officer.

Charles Jones burned out car was discovered in Jackson, TN, roughly eight miles away from where his body was discovered.

Ashley Carver, 22, made her first appearance in a Memphis courtroom Monday. She's charged with first degree murder. Carver is accused of luring the killer crew's victim with the promise of sex.

Carver's Facebook page has various photos of her including one alongside a Memphis police cruiser.

Her step-grandmother didn't want to talk on camera, but said Carver didn't graduate from Hernando High School and that she's been married and divorced.

After that, she ended up at her relatives and they say she also ended up hanging out with the wrong crowd.

Neighbors say Carver and her boyfriend Michael Dean, who is also charged with first degree murder, lived with Dean's grandfather for a time.

One of the murders the group is accused of happened a couple of houses down from the grandfather's home.

Police say that's where Valero employee Leonard Davidson's body was discovered. He had been shot to death. Dean and Carver admitted to the murder and said the motive was robbery, according to investigators.

Dean is also accused of shooting and Killing James Rucker and Melody Weddle inside a home on Claybrook in December.

Police believe robbery was the motive for the murders.
