MEMPHIS, TN -

(WMC-TV) - They're accused of killing four people, including a former Memphis police officer, and investigators say two members of the killing crew are brothers.

Three of the accused killers are behind bars at 201 Poplar while a fourth man, Demetreous Santiago, is on the run.

"He always obeyed and followed every rule we had at the house," said Santiago's foster mother Marilyn Price.

Price fostered Santiago after the teen moved from Memphis to Jackson, TN. She told WBBJ that she warned him about coming back to Memphis.

"If you got back and hang with the same people that you're trying to get away from, they'll pull you back," she told him.

The bad crowd included people like Michael Dean, Santiago's brother.

The pair was pulled over in former Memphis police officer Charles Jones' Lexus on I-40 Thursday afternoon.

The brothers drove away from the traffic stop and are accused of robbing and killing Jones then burning and his body.

Investigators visited Price soon after.

Michael Dean, Ashley Carver, and Lewis Gibson are all in jail.

Police believe Santiago is the fourth suspect in a killing spree that lasted more than two months.

Police say their crimes include a December 8 double murder on Claybrook, Valero employee Leonard Davidson's murder and Jones' murder.

Price said she tried to be a positive influence for Santiago.

"We wanted to be a support for him so he could, you know, make a success of his life," she said.

If you know Santiago's whereabouts, police ask that you call Crime Stoppers at 901-528-CASH.
