MURFREESBORO, TN (WSMV) -

Rutherford County sheriff's officials arrested four adults and a juvenile in connection with a string of home burglaries across the area.

Keith Clements, 30, of Nashville; Brandon Mulac, 18, of Smyrna; Dalton Ray, 18, of Murfreesboro; Robert Graves, 18, of Smyrna; and a 16-year-old male who had run away from Department of Children's Services custody were charged this month with two counts of aggravated burglary and two counts of theft over $10,000.

Rutherford County sheriff's detective Jerremy Weaver says the five suspects would drive around prospective neighborhoods, knocking on the doors of houses at random and breaking into those where nobody answered the front door.

When someone answered the door, the suspects told the resident they were searching for a lost dog and leave, Weaver said.

Stolen property valued at around $75,000 was recovered by law enforcement, including electronics, jewelry and weapons.

"At that one house, we recovered stolen property from eight separate houses in Rutherford County and several houses in Wilson and Williamson County," Weaver said.
