MEMPHIS, TN -

(WMC-TV) - A juvenile has been charged in the home invasion shooting of a 10-year-old and her mother.

The home invasion happened Monday in the 5900 block of Birdie Cove.  The child remained in the hospital in critical condition, while here mother was released Friday.

Jarvis Boyd, 17, is in juvenile court custody.  He faces a list of charges, including attempted first degree murder, especially aggravated burglary, using a gun in a dangerous felony, attempted especially aggravated robbery, carrying a gun illegally, and five counts of aggravated assault.

Around 11:15 Monday night, two armed men forced their way into an apartment where eight people were at home, including six children between the ages of two and 16.

The armed men made everyone lay on the floor, stole a small amount of cash, and then left.  Police said when one of the victims closed the door behind them, the gunman opened fire into the door.

Flying bullets hit 35-year-old Sandra Chacon and a 10-year-old, who were inside at the time.

Chacon was released from the MED Friday.  The 10-year-old remained in critical condition at LeBonheur Children's Hospital, though she is improving and recovering.

Investigators are still searching for the second suspect.  Boyd's case is one the District Attorney's Office will likely consider requesting a transfer from juvenile court to adult court at 201 Poplar.
