Ben & Jerry's ice cream under voluntary recall

Posted: Updated:
MEMPHIS, TN -

(WMC-TV) – Your favorite ice cream may be the subject of a voluntary recall.

The Ben & Jerry's Chocolate Nougat Crunch ice cream is being recalled because the packaging does not mention that the fudge covered wafer pieces are manufactured on equipment that also processes peanuts and tree nuts.

The allergy advisory should have been published at the end of the ingredients list. People who have a serious allergy to peanuts or tree nuts run the risk of a serious reaction if they consume the recalled ice cream.

People who have purchased the pints of Chocolate Nougat Crunch with the affected UPC code and date code(s) are asked to discard any remaining product, rinse out the pint container, cut out and retain the UPC on the side of the container and call 877-270-7397.

The recalled product was sold in pint containers with the UPC code of 7684020899 and the following date codes:

JUL1113BJ1, JUL1213BJ1, AUG0113BJ1, AUG0213BJ1, AUG2313BJ1, AUG2413BJ1, AUG2513BJ1, SEP2013BJ1, SEP2113BJ1, OCT2313BJ1.
