Dollywood announces new water coaster next year - Action News 5 - Memphis, Tennessee

PIGEON FORGE, Tenn. (AP) - Dollywood's Splash Country water park in East Tennessee is adding a water roller coaster, a first in the state.

WATE-TV reported (http://bit.ly/MxyuTI ) country singer Dolly Parton announced the new ride on Saturday, called RiverRush, is set to open in May 2013.

The ride is based on a new generation of water coasters that combines climbs, drops, twists and turns. The track will measure 1,175 feet and includes a 45 degree drop. The track will cover more than an acre in a newly developed area near the park's Big Bear Plunge ride.
