JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

A black ex-con who was in prison with reputed Ku Klux Klansman Edgar Ray Killen says he is willing to allow the U.S. Government access to 40 acres of land in Neshoba County. The land was allegedly deeded to him by the Klansman and is where a search may turn up human remains of other Killen victims.

Killen, his wife and lawyer are being sued over statements related to a land transfer. James Stern met with reporters in downtown Jackson Monday. He claims Killen signed over power of attorney on the land and confessed that he was responsible for the murders of three civil rights workers in 1964 and 32 others.

We asked Stern, "What would lead you to suspect there are bodies on that property?"

"I spent one and a half years housed with Edgar Ray Killen, as I told you, he's confessed to many things, even his wife in phone conversations spoke to me of bush hogging the property, many days of covering up things in the pastures," said Stern.

Stern and his attorney have no idea if any investigation of their claims is underway by state or federal authorities. The alleged confession came when Stern was serving time for mail fraud in the same Mississippi prison where Killen is held. He also claims his former cell mate gave him the rights to a potential book and movie deal.
