MEMPHIS, TN -

(AP) - Donations are down and the weather is hot, but the Occupy Memphis movement is not budging from its downtown encampment.

The Occupy Memphis camp is marking its ninth month at its location across from City Hall in downtown Memphis. The Commercial Appeal reports that the collection of about 20 tents in Civic Center Plaza is 1 of the longest lasting Occupy encampments in the country since the movement against disproportionate distribution of wealth began last year.

Some members of the movement have been at the encampment since October 2011. Terry Carrico, a former restoration contractor who settled in Memphis after his business went bankrupt in Indianapolis, says the camp fed 70 to 120 people a day, but those numbers and the amount of donations have dropped over time.
