Body of burned woman identified, death ruled homicide

FRANKLIN COUNTY, TN (WAFF) -

Franklin County Sheriff's Office identified the body of a woman found on the side of the road Monday morning.

Investigators said the body of Erika Megan Sharpton  of Tullahoma, Tennessee was found on the side of the road near Awalt Bridge in Franklin County.

A passing motorist found the partially burned body after stopping to investigate what appeared to be a grass fire around 1 a.m.

Sharpton's death has been ruled a homicide. Anyone with information about the case is asked to call Investigator Todd Hindman at 931-962-0123 or the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation at 1-800-TBI-FIND.
